The Red Line. Renovation of Loučná Riverbank in Litomyšl Martin Rusina, Martin Frei / Rusina Frei architekti /

The renovation of the Loučná riverbank, in the center of Litomyšl, connects to a section previously completed by Josef Pleskot’s AP atelier. The concept of the renovation is based on connecting four different urban spaces – the waterfront, riverbanks, park, and street – into one functional whole. A city promenade under the trees is emerging on the waterfront, fringed with a low colored concrete wall that creates a border between the city and the natural riverbanks. The riverbanks are kept wild and made accessible only on selected sites with light observation posts where people can watch birds and fish. The park near the Smetana House has been transformed into a sunny recreation meadow. A restuarants outside seating was also restored, newly completed with a steel pavilion with a green roof.

Faceless Architecture. Motto ERA21 #06/2017 Geert Bekaert

The geography of architecture has a tendency to come out in cliches, but in the case of Belgium this cannot be helped. Belgium is the ultimate commonplace, where people build and live without giving it a second thought, doing things one way today, another way tomorrow, if need be, not allowing their lives or their moods to be disrupted, and without getting overexcited. A few years ago Carlo Ginzburg, the famous historian from Bologna, paid a visit to Leuven. His fascination with the as yet undefined marginal phenomena automatically led the conversation to contemporary Belgian architecture.

Sun Cross. Cemetery in Dolní Břežany Zdenek Sendler, Radka Táborová / Ateliér zahradní a krajinářské architektury /

The new cemetery in Dolní Břežany is a unique project that could be called a landscape park with a cemetery or a cemetery in a landscape park. It is part of a designed landscape surrounding the municipality and the Břežanské valley. The concept is based on the historical settlement of Dolní Břežany, beginning with it's Celtic inhabitants, then the Slavs, and then the Christians. The basic composition constitutes a cross-shaped linden avenue with four oaks in the center, sacred trees of the Celts. The center is lined with round stone walls and hornbeam hedges. The composition refers to the symbolism of the sun (Celtic) cross as one of the oldest symbols of our civilization.

Žehrat méně Tomáš Zdvihal

V posledních týdnech proběhla téměř všemi českými médii kauza zateplení budovy základní školy v Kamenných Žehrovicích. Výsledek rekonstrukce vzedmul vlnu pobouření, výsměchu a nenávistných komentářů. Starostka obce byla překvapena, že se k tématu vyjadřují lidé odjinud a především profesí architekti. Pod nečekaným tlakem mluvila o mediální kampani. Média řešila historickou hodnotu objektu, smysl zateplování, výraznou barevnost...
